Beautiful graphics, a thrilling soundtrack, and original racing mechanics make Riptide GP: Renegade a must-play racing game. The visuals are incredibly stunning, but you may need one of the best Android gaming phones to avoid a drop in framerates at the highest settings.

Asphalt 9 is a perfect compromise between racing sim and arcade racer. While the game is full of real-world cars, parts, and real-life locations, it knows you want the feel of racing, not the stress of changing gears at the optimal time. It's challenging but easy to learn.

GRID Autosport was initially released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation in 2014; the Android version is the latest port of many. While the graphics are a tad dated today, it's the closest you can get to a console racing game on the Play Store. Despite its age, it includes many modern racing features, like soft body deformation.

Horizon Chase is a retro racer with tons of quality-of-life features. Those who grew up on the racing games of the early 90s will feel right at home here, as, despite a few modern additions, it doesn't let go of its roots. Bold colors, sharp polygons, and a spectacular array of seasons and weather show that you don't need ultra-realistic graphics to make a good-looking racing game.

Are you tired of messing up your corner drifts in GRID Autosport? Give CSR 2 a go. It's a drag racing game, so you'll practice your gear changes rather than cornering skills. A hyper-realistic simulator, you can tinker and race with your favorite vehicle to your heart's content.

Mario Kart is the biggest name in racing games, and after a few years of wonky design choices, Mario Kart Tour has finally come into its own. It's the classic Mario Kart experience built for mobile, with plenty of unique features. For example, the "Tour" part refers to courses inspired by real-world locations, and there are new game modes that can only be found here.

Mario Kart Tour is a multiplayer game at heart; you can play globally or locally against friends or strangers. The competitive racers among us will enjoy rising up the ranks, but casual players will get the most out of this fantastic racing game. If you can't play Mario Kart on a Nintendo console, give this a shot, you won't regret it.

Top-down racers might not be as realistic as classic first-person racing games, but they'll stretch your racing skills regardless. Rush Rally Origins is the best of this subgenre, drawing on the previous games in the series to create a gripping rally experience.

Who said a good racing game required real-world vehicles? Data Wing proves that all you need to have exciting races are neon lights and different colored triangles. While it's a relatively short game, the story-driven approach offers a more absorbing experience than most other games on this list.

Another delicate balance of realistic and arcade racing mechanics, Assoluto Racing, is a competitive track racing game that utilizes realistic physics to let you drift while staying in complete control of your car. It's similar to Asphalt 9, so Assoluto racing is a must-play if you enjoyed that.

Enjoy the arcade gameplay of Asphalt 9 but felt it was a bit too conservative? Give Hot Lap League a try. It offers enough competitive racing features to keep you hooked, but the ridiculous tracks are the real selling point. You'll perform maneuvers unseen in any other racing game, thanks to Hot Lap League's tenuous relationship with the laws of physics.

Wreckfest's Android port may have started out suffering from noticeable performance issues, but seeing this fantastic racing game on phones is still a remarkable achievement now that many issues have been addressed. Utilizing soft-body physics to create realistic damage, Wreckfest is an excellent destruction derby game that's also a racer.

Hellrider 3 changes the perspective of previous games, offering a third-person view rather than a top-down one. Fans of the series won't be disappointed, though, as Hellrider 3 still provides the same low-poly racing fan. Each level pits you against other riders, as well as a variety of bizarre enemies, including giant monsters.

Picking up a controller is the best way to enjoy these racing games, but each one offers full touch-screen support. Once you've mastered a few racing games, explore the best games on Android to see what else the Play Store offers.

So, can someone who uses only free and open source software find games that are polished enough to present a solid gaming experience without compromising their open source ideals? Absolutely. While open source games are unlikely to ever rival some of the AAA commercial games developed with massive budgets, there are plenty of open source games, in many genres, that are fun to play and can be installed from the repositories of most major Linux distributions. Even if a particular game is not packaged for a particular distribution, it is usually easy to download the game from the project's website to install and play it.

This article looks at racing and flying games. I have already written about arcade-style games, board and card games, and puzzle games. In future articles, I plan to cover role-playing games and strategy & simulation games.

Race down snow and ice-covered mountains as Tux or other characters in Extreme Tux Racer. In this racing game, the goal is to collect herrings and earn the best time. There are many different tracks to choose from, and tracks can be customized by altering the time of day, wind, and weather conditions. While the game has a few rough edges compared to modern, commercial racing games, it is still an enjoyable game to play. The controls and gameplay are straightforward and simple to learn, making this a great choice for kids.

FlightGear is a full-fledged, open source flight simulator. Multiple aircraft types are available, and 20,000 airports are included in the full world scenery set. That means the player can fly to most parts of the world and have realistic airports and scenery. The full world scenery data is large enough to fill three DVDs. Even the developers are jokingly not sure if that counts as "a feature or a problem," so be aware that a complete installation of FlightGear and all its scenery data is huge. While certainly not the right game for everyone, FlightGear provides a very complete and complex flight simulator experience for players looking to explore the skies on their own computer.

Torcs is a fairly standard racing game with some extra features for the tech-savvy. Torcs can be played as just a standard racing game, where the player drives around a track trying to get the best time, but an alternative usage is as a platform to develop an artificial intelligence driver that can drive itself through Torcs' tracks. The cars and tracks included with the game vary in style, ranging from stock car racing to rally racing, but the gameplay is pretty typical for a racing game. Keyboard, mouse, joystick, and steering wheel input are all supported, but keyboard and mouse input modes are a little hard to get used to. Single-player races range from practice runs to championships, and there is a split-screen multi-player mode for up to four players.

Trigger Rally is an off-road, single-player rally racing game. The player needs to make it to each checkpoint in time to complete the race, which is standard racing game fare, but still enjoyable. The gameplay is more arcade-like than a strict racing simulator like Torcs but more realistic than cartoonish racing games like SuperTuxKart. The tracks are interesting and the controls are responsive, but a little too sensitive when playing with a keyboard. Joystick controls are available by changing an option in a configuration file. Unfortunately, development on the game is slow going, with the latest release in 2016, but the gameplay that is already there is fun.

As a long-time fan of Gran Turismo on Plastation and racing games in general, did like Torcs a lot, thanks for sharing!Unfortunately, the AI doesn't provide a big challenge for me (tried changing my player configuration as 'pro', but I'm still 3+ seconds faster per lap), but it's still fun to play and pass some time!

The old versions of this game are excellent but the new versions are beeeerbat but when you download the old versions it opens but when you turn the game on and off, the game becomes unusable, it says...

This list of most-downloaded Google Play Store applications includes most of the free apps that have been downloaded at least 500 million times, and most of the paid apps that have been downloaded at least one million times on unique Android devices. There are numerous Android apps that have been downloaded more than one million times from the Google Play app store, and it was reported in July 2017 that there are 319 apps which have been downloaded at least 100 million times and 4,098 apps have been downloaded at least ten million times.[1] The barrier for entry on this list is set at 500 million for free apps to limit the size of this list. Many of the applications in this list are distributed pre-installed on top-selling Android devices[2] and may be considered bloatware by some people because users did not actively choose to download them.[3] The table below shows the number of Google Play apps in each category.
